Media release: Midland Shakedown Jamboree
The Murder Mouse Blues Band has effectively taken a firm hold of the Perth blues and roots scene in a little over a year. In their short history together since Oct 2008 the band have reached the number 1 spot in Triple J’s unearthed competition, been nominated for a Independent Music Award (the IMA’s are the Grammy’s of independent music) for Best Blues Song, the powerhouse Apocalypse Blues.
Their debut album Fill the Hole has been receiving rave reviews around the country after being distributed to over 400 radio stations throughout Australia. Reviewers have been comparing The Murder Mouse Blues Band to roots luminaries like the Pogues and the Bad Seeds. The band is currently enjoying regular national radio play and will be representing the Perth Blues Club at the National Blues Festival in Feb 2010 in Glencoe, NSW.
The Murder Mouse Blues Band have developed a reputation as having a scorching live show playing regularly in Perth’s hottest spots including appearances at the Perth Blues Club as well residencies at the Indi Bar. They are currently developing a strong following down South commencing their second round of regular touring.
In November and December Murder Mouse will be putting on an acoustic concert series with the support of the City of Swan to showcase Murder Mouse’s own blues and roots talent along with other notable acts from Perth’s hard working music scene. Performers include the Jo-Kings, The Lazy Railway, singer songstress Storme, and classical guitarist Marcus Sturrock.
The Midland Shakedown Jamboree will feature three acoustic acts one Sunday a month from 2pm –5pm featuring the best of Perth’s blues, roots, folk and jazz acts. Fully licensed bar, BYO nibblies at the regal Midland Junction Arts Centre, Perth’s newest arts venue. The Midland Junction Arts Centre (formerly the Australian Opera Studio) is on the corner of Great Eastern Highway and Cale St, near Midland Gate Shopping Centre. This is an easy walk from the Midland train station, and on a Sunday there is heaps of parking nearby.
